About Dr. Ragam
Ashwinee Ragam, MD is board-certified and a corneal fellowship-trained ophthalmologist.
Dr. Ragam graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey. She was accepted to the competitive, accelerated, seven-year BS/MD program at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where she finished at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She then completed an ophthalmology residency as well as corneal subspecialty fellowship at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. She was selected by her peers and mentors to become Chief Resident.
Both Dr. Ragam and her husband, an orthopaedic hand surgeon, are New Jersey natives and looked forward to returning home after training to grow their practices and raise their two sons.
Dr. Ragam performs cataract surgery, corneal procedures including full and partial-thickness (DMEK, DSEK) corneal transplantation, as well as pterygium excision. She is the first ophthalmologist in Ocean County to perform FDA-approved corneal collagen crosslinking for progressive keratoconus and post-LASIK ectasia.
Over her years in practice, Dr. Ragam has developed a strong interest in the causes of ocular surface diseases which includes dry eyes. She runs our highly advanced Dry Eye Relief Center at InVision Eye Care, which assists numerous patients with this common yet complex condition. By focusing on Dry Eye, Dr. Ragam is able to optimize her patients’ vision and eye comfort before, during, and after their cataract surgeries.
Dr. Ragam has published several peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Cornea Society, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
